Empowering research success

Torrens University is committed to supporting its researchers by offering resources and support aimed at fostering aspiration, excellence, integrity and impact. Our strategy for research professional development is in line with the globally recognised VITAE Researcher Development Framework.
The framework comprises four domains, with Domain B focusing on personal effectiveness.

Within this domain, there are three key categories:

  • B1 Personal qualities: This category emphasises traits such as enthusiasm, perseverance, integrity, self-confidence, self-reflection and responsibility.
  • B2 Self-management: Focuses on skills including preparation and prioritisation, commitment to research, time management, adaptability to change and maintaining a work-life balance.
  • B3 Professional and career development: Covers aspects of career management, ongoing professional development, seizing opportunities, networking and building reputation and esteem.

To assist in aligning your professional development with these areas, we've created a Yearly Planner. This tool helps you self-assess your development needs against the opportunities we provide. Major activities featured include the University Research Seminar Series, Research and Innovation Week, EPIGEUM modules, Supervisor Community of Practice and Subscriptions.

Learning & Development (login required) offer a range of useful resources that support the development of personal effectiveness.
